S*RJC ASPIRE 2

Published by calvin under Hacknology

Not friendly afterall

I was thinking that ASPIRE 2 portal for our college was user-friendly. But afterall it’s not!

ASPIRE2 does not support FireFox. Only use ASPIRE2 on Internet Explorer.

Anyway, i found some glitches on ASPIRE(1) when i login via FireFox too. Downloading stuff from ASPIRE using FireFox will get you missing file extension. So check the filename and add the file extension accordingly when opening your files!

Oh wait let me make this clear: Firefox is NOT the one causing the problem. It’s the portal! =O

Ubuntu - Here I Come!

Published by calvin under Hacknology

Hello world!

I remembered Dan asking me if i’ve used Ubuntu before. Yes i used the console command terminal before, but not this one, which has the desktop display. I’d say it’s kinda user-friendly (if you know what is going on), and it is smooth.

Installed VMware today to try ubuntu on my system, and it works well. Not laggy, except a few times especially updating my package files.

If you would like to install ubuntu on your existing system, this is what you need:

  1. VMware Workstation
  2. Ubuntu Image File (.iso)

Just this 2, simple?

It’s just like a macbook, which can toggle between Mac and Windows. I find ubuntu better than Mac! Try ubuntu today, there’s no harm right?

Besides that, i’ve requested for ubuntu CDs! Yes they are free (typical Singaporean lah)! However i’ve to wait for 6 to 10 weeks before they deliver it to my doorstep. Hehe..

I’m currently blogging using Ubuntu! Here is a screeny i took. I don’t really know how to transfer files from Windows to Ubuntu yet, so i took so much time composing mails to my gmail and transferring data from one end to another..

Here, Calvin presents.. Ubuntu!!

Yay, nice isn’t it? Hehe..
